Strawberries are technically in the Rose (flower) family. They have more vitamin c than oranges. Early fruit tastes the sweetest. They are grown in California, Florida and Mexico, although in the summer months, those on the Northeast coast can enjoy local strawberries. They are eaten raw, in cakes and pies, juices and smoothies or as toppings for ice cream and yogurt. They are sold in clamshells, usually 8/1qt per case.
